How Your Dollars Reach
People In Need
- You sign your pledge form and hand it to your solicitor - who passes
your form along to the payroll department. Payroll then deducts a
proportionate amount of your pledge from your paycheck. Payroll then issues
a check to United Way of Will County covering your contribution as well as
those of your co-workers. - or - You made a contribution to your United Way
of Will County directly, either via cash, check, or charge.

-
Meanwhile, each non-profit agency applying for United Way of Will County
funding determines its overall annual operating and program budget. It also
calculates how much funding it expects to receive from other sources, such
as grants and fees for service. The United Way of Will County's Programs and
Allocations Committee (PAC), comprised of local volunteers, divides into
small teams which make on-site visits to agencies applying for United Way
funding.
-
Next,
representatives from each agency formally meet with the
panel of PAC volunteers. There, representatives discuss
their agency's funding proposal, answer the Committee's
questions, and address its concerns. The recommendations
of the PAC volunteers are passed on to the United Way of
Will County's volunteer Board of Directors. The Board
makes all final funding decisions based upon those
recommendations. The agency receives its funding
from the United Way of Will County and provides vitally
needed programs and services to the people in your community.
